Some people prefer to make their own paddle. Small class sizes provide lots of individual attention and the ability to carve your very own paddle in one day. We use the finest of hand tools, provided by Wood River and Lee Valley Tools. We source clear, straight grained Western Red Cedar for most classes. Everything you need to go home with a beautiful finished Greenland paddle is included.
It has been an honor to have been invited to teach classes in Japan, Argentina, Canada, and throughout the United States. If you would like to hold a class in your area, please contact us.
2025: Our next classes are in May in FL at the TRAQS symposium, and in NY at the Inwood Canoe Club. And then June 21 we have another class in Skamokawa, WA. Contact Shannon at the Skamokawa Resort if you are interested, there is still room in this class.
Finally, for 2025, we have worked up a new class to do laminated paddles. It will be 2 full days or 3 shorter days, with peices pre-cut. Students will learn about laminating, choose thier shaft and woods, lay up the blanks and carvev the paddles. The first offering of this will be in the fall, stay tuned for more information!
